Snohetta plans on revamping 550 Madison Avenue, designed by architect Philip Jackson in 1980. The system, previously called the AT&T creating, is recognized as a symbol of Postmodernism. 550 Madison Avenue: Focusing on how best to raise the building`s engagement having its surroundings, Snohetta proposes to replace the building`s unique rock façade with a curvaceous glass layer wall. This will probably be put on the base of the creating to be able to make it more inviting and eye-pleasing to the passers-by.
Additionally, the existing community walkway, that is found at the center of the block, is going to be converted to a substantial open-air landscape. The recently-revealed renderings of 550 Madison Avenue show the unique entrance posture, at the ground ground stage, to be partly hidden behind the new fritted glass layer wall façade. The rock on the pillars bordering the creating will undoubtedly be deposed, providing a new baseline which will make the tower seem to be floating.
The 550 Madison Avenue tower, which was built-in 1984, was designed by architects Philip Johnson and David Burgee in response to the considerable amount of the glassy systems that were invading the town right back then. The developers, Olayan Group and Chestfield, will pay about $300 million for the tower`s transformation that will be anticipated to be finished in 2019.
